The Session:
Getting Started +
It can be reassuring to know exactly what you’re walking in to. Here’s the process: Every client starts with a free, no-obligation 1hr phone call. This allows me to get the full scope of the problem, provide you with a quote and gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Book your call here. After the call, you’ll receive a confirmation text with all your details.
What to Expect +
During the session we will use a blend of Hypnosis, Time Line Therapy© and Neuro-Linguistic Programming to find and address the root cause of the presenting problem. When the cause has been addressed, if required we then install those strategies identified by you as preferred positive behaviours. For example, a client who wishes to quit smoking will simply cease smoking. A client who eats compulsively can, after the cause of the behaviour is addressed, go on to install a strategy for eating nutritious foods in healthy amounts. How much does hypnosis cost? +
Every client is unique and I treat you as such. While some practices use a blanket ‘one size fits all’ approach to their clients, I take the time to know you and your circumstances in detail and construct a personalised program tailored to your needs. For this reason, I provide each client with a quote at the end of our free, no obligation phone consult when I have a full understanding of how I can help.
How many sessions will I need? +
For those enlisting a one-and-done session such as quitting smoking, it is no trick – one session is truly all it takes.
For those enquiring about programs, each client’s focus, circumstance and even thought processes are different. After our free initial call, I have a better understanding and can provide you with a program ‘map’ including a quote and how many sessions we will work together for.
You can read more about which needs require programs and which require just one session here.
What happens if it doesn’t work? +
While this happens a very minute percent of the time, it is possible. In cases where the hypnosis didn’t take strongly enough the first time, you can return for a second session free of charge.
How long does hypnosis take? +
Each session is made up of a blend of Hypnosis, Time Line Therapy© and Neuro-Linguistic Programming so you won’t be hypnotised the entire time. While many report feeling as though very little time has passed, a client will typically enjoy the relaxed feeling of trance for 20-30 minutes.
What should I do to prepare for a session? +
Entering trance is an easy, natural phenomenon. There is often little prep needed, though I do recommend having a good night’s sleep the night before and wearing comfortable clothes to lounge in.
The Therapies:
How does hypnosis work? +
Hypnosis is the temporary suspension of the conscious mind so that we may access and work with the part of the brain responsible for storing memory, belief systems and habits. This part is known as the unconscious mind and is responsible for those functions we are not consciously aware of such as blinking, digesting and breathing.
This suspension is called trance and is an entirely natural phenomenon. We enter trance each time we watch TV or ‘space out’ at work. By working directly with the unconscious mind through trance, we expediate results as we do not need to ‘convince’ you consciously. New patterns of behaviour will simply be installed for seamless change.
Can I be hypnotised to do anything? +
Remember, you are in control. Just because you allow yourself to go into trance does not mean you will accept all suggestions given to you – only those your unconscious deems of benefit. Hypnosis is entirely permission based, which is why you can’t say “I was hypnotised to do it!” in a court of law. If at any time you find yourself wanting to stop, you simply open your eyes as there is nothing ‘holding’ you in hypnosis.
Will hypnosis work on me? +
Put simply, yes. Trance is a state of relaxation and suspended thought that we experience daily. It is an entirely natural phenomenon, and you’ve been in trance more often than you think. Have you ever driven home and arrived safely with little memory of the journey itself? Ever completed a task on autopilot? How about watching TV? All are examples of trance.
While you will find it easy to be guided into a state of trance, you know it will work on you simply because you want it to. It’s like the old adage goes: whether you think you can be hypnotised or you think you can’t – you’re right.
Will I know I’ve been hypnotised? +
There is no “feeling” of being hypnotised, you will simply feel relaxed and comfortable. The same is true when the hypnosis is complete – you won’t “feel” any different, but you will have your desired change in behaviour.
Where did hypnosis originate? +
Variations of hypnosis have appeared throughout history. From Sanskrit writings of healing trances and ancient Egyptian ‘sleep temples’ to animal magnetism and modern trance phenomena, hypnosis has long been associated with healing and psychotherapy. For the full story, check out this blog.
What is Time Line Therapy©? How can it help me? +
Time Line Therapy © uses a light trance to find and resolve the root cause of a presenting problem or behaviour. One directive of the subconscious mind is to store memory. So while you may not be consciously aware WHY you do what you do, this exercise will allow us to isolate such a cause and heal it at the unconscious level. By addressing the cause, we can remove the problem.
This technique is a powerful driver for change used to find and heal the cause of:
- compulsive behaviours like over-eating or nail biting
- addictions such as smoking
- limiting decisions our subconscious may have mistaken as literal e.g. “I’m always late”, “I’m a procrastinator” and more.
Time Line Therapy © also allows you to access the future of your timeline, where you can insert goals so that your conscious and subconscious minds are aligned to accomplish them, supporting behavioural change at a deeper level. Such an exercise is great for weight loss, increasing income, adopting a new habit and more.
What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)? How can it help me? +
Neuro – The way your neurological system processes the world around you and translates it into thoughts, beliefs and behaviours. Our neurological system deletes, distorts and generalises the 11 million bits per second of information and creates a series of internal representations of the way we see and interact with the world.
Linguistic – The use of language to code and communicate your experience. Language often has surface and deeper meanings that give clues to an individual’s understanding of themselves and the world.
Programming – The thinking and behavioural strategies that we run in our neurological systems to achieve a desired result. Once we understand these programs, we can create and adjust them to change our experiences.
Therefore, NLP discovers how your use of language programs your brain. It offers a collection of models, techniques and strategies to change your thinking and orient you toward your goals.
